Avis public - Temporary lowering of the level of Rivière Rouge, north of the Chute-Bell structures
To avoid any incidents, Hydro-Québec recommends that no traffic be allowed on the Rivière Rouge between the Chute-Bell structures in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge and Chemin de la Rivière-Maskinongé (Rivington Bridge) in Harrington from February 22 to March 1, 2020.
To prevent future spring floods, major work will be done to improve the discharge capacity of the Chute-Bell development. During this period, work will lower the level of the Rivière Rouge by about 2 meters, upstream of the powerhouse and spillway.
Traffic will be hazardous due to the weakening of the ice cover, which will become unstable in places. We invite the public to take no risks during the entire period of this lowering.
Snowmobilers are reminded that it is strongly not recommended to leave the marked trails and that Hydro-Québec's notice concerns an off-beacon location, despite the fact that we notice traces of reckless snowmobilers every season.
