News from your federation : An atypical 2020-2021 snowmobile season

Terrebonne, October 19th, 2020 – The questions concerning the 2020-2021 snowmobile season are numerous and the subject has been discussed many times with government authorities. What has been mentioned to the FCMQ is that the management of the pandemic will remain at the regional and local level, rather than in a global manner as was the case last spring. We currently have proof of this with the regional alert and gradual intervention system established by the government of Quebec.

We assure you that the FCMQ is following the situation very closely and that we will keep all stakeholders informed if and when there are changes or corrections to be made. The FCMQ has no intention on closing its trails this winter as it was suggested to the clubs at a time when little was known about the virus and the entire economy was put on hold.

The watchword for clubs is to respect all Public Health guidelines, including managing trail openings and operating relays. We plan to inform snowmobilers of the opening status of the regions through the interactive trail map and the iMotoneige application.

It is possible that some lodging facilities, huts or relays may be closed this winter, which may limit or compromise the longer rides that some people enjoy. It is very likely that many of us will be called upon to live our passion at a more local level, that is, to rediscover trails and landscapes closer to home. We are aware that the practice of our activity will certainly be different, but this will not be a sufficient reason to put an end to the season.

We are currently living an extraordinary situation which is unfortunately difficult to predict because it is impossible for us to know the conditions we will be facing in the near future; we ask you to refer to the communications issued by the FCMQ.
