PRESS RELEASE FOR SNOWMOBILERS
All together, we shall overcome :
the Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec asks for your collaboration.
Terrebonne, March 19th, 2020 – In these difficult times, our absolute priority remains the safety and well-being of snowmobilers, as well as that of volunteers. We are constantly following government directives and wil be issuing regular updates on the situation as it relates to the FCMQ. We wish to remind you that the FCMQ office is currently off-limits to visitors, but that we continue to offer services to respond to snowmobilers’ needs.
Governments across the country are encouraging Canadians to isolate themselves as much as possible in order to slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and it is for this reason that we wish to reduce the possible impacts linked to the displacement of snowmobilers, this based on recommandations issued by relevant health authorities.
For this reason, and in order to lend support to snowmobile federations in other provinces which are closing their trail networks, we invite you to limit your displacements on snowmobile trails, this in order to safeguard the safety and health of all citizens. We are also strongly urging our clubs to close their trails and to cease grooming activities for this season.
An ever-increasing number of clubhouses and establishments are closing and this could potentially create a hazardous situation for trail riding. You could find yourself in a perilous situation, to say nothing of increasing the chances of spreading the virus.
In support of this request, the FCMQ will be closing the trail permit purchasing platform and the interactive trail map beginning at 11:59 PM on Sunday, March 22nd, 2020. You will continue to have access to your profile and previously-purchased trail permits, but the purchase of new permits (all varieties, including daily) will no longer be possible.
This is indeed an important decision, one that ensures that, all together, we take the measures necessary to safeguard the health and safety of our members.
We wish to thank you in advance for your understanding for this situation which is outside of our control and we want to wish you a wonderful end of season, in full health and safety.
